TROUGH 10' EVAP

A foundational component of evaporative cooling systems used in livestock barns and greenhouses to collect and recirculate water that has passed through cooling pads. It typically sits at the base of the cooling wall, acting as a reservoir to prevent water loss and facilitate continuous wetting of the pads.

Core Functions and Design:

The trough serves several critical roles in maintaining the efficiency of an evaporative cooling system

  • Water Collection: It catches excess water that drips from the bottom of the cellulose cooling pads after they have been saturated by the top distribution pipe.
  • Recirculation Reservoir: By collecting runoff, the trough allows a pump to move water back to the top of the system, minimizing total water consumption.
  • Structural Support: Modern designs, such as the AP Cool Cell Trough, feature a pre-formed square bottom that can be installed with or without additional mounting brackets.
  • Material: Most troughs are extruded from ultraviolet-stabilized PVC or heavy-duty polypropylene to ensure resistance to corrosion, algae growth, and wear from harsh outdoor conditions.
